Almonds: Energy Food

Whoever came up with the expression “big things come in small packages” probably had almonds in mind. The almond is a species of tree native to the Middle East and South Asia. “Almond” is also the name of the edible and widely cultivated seed of this tree. Almonds are packed with healthy monounsaturated fats, contain fiber, magnesium, protein and an entire serving of calcium in only seven nuts. Clinical trials have shown that eating almonds can help lower LDL cholesterol, fight inflammation, lower blood pressure and help with weight loss when substituted for complex carbohydrates. And the best thing about almonds? They’re extremely portable and are probably the healthiest choice you can find in a convenience store.
