Within days after the election, Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner Dr. David Lakey and Gov. Rick Perry insist that health care workers returning from Ebola-stricken areas can simply self-quarantine. The guidelines are recommended by the blue-ribbon task force, which Perry created after the nation’s first case of Ebola was diagnosed in Dallas, Texas and set forth nuanced “exposure” categories.
